Avionics (aviation electronics) is the electronic and electrical equipment that helps operate aircraft and spacecraft, built to work where environmental conditions would exceed ordinary systems. Averna tests these systems at both the Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) and Shop Replaceable Unit (SRU) level.
Avionics testing covers an aircraft's electronic systems, such as:
- Radios and communication
- Flight management and computing systems
- Flight control systems
- Navigation systems
- Radio altimeters
- Surveillance equipment
- Cockpit display and control systems
- Sensors and onboard electronic equipment
Averna also tests mechanical and hydraulic components and actuators, not only electronics. Coverage also extends to Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), drone avionics and Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) systems, which run the same flight-critical electronics as crewed aircraft in smaller airframes.
