Unique vessel positioning system lands Averna top engineering award

Montreal, QC, August 12, 2008 - Global test engineering company Averna today announced that it has won the inaugural Graphical System Design Achievement Award in the category Industrial Measurements/Control, for its entry “NI Technology Strengthens Unique Vessel Positioning System". Over 110 authors from 13 countries participated in this international competition organized by virtual instrumentation pioneer National Instruments (NI) and judged by a panel of 30 industry experts and 20 top trade publications.

The Graphical System Design Achievement Awards recognize the most innovative user applications based on NI software and hardware. Averna’s entry highlights an automated vessel positioning system implemented for the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation, the first of its kind in the world to be driven by NI technology.

“We are proud and honored to have earned this recognition,” said Richard Maltais, chief operating officer at Averna. “This award win testifies to our expertise in creating innovative solutions for the most challenging engineering projects in test and measurement.”

The winning paper was co-authored by the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation.
