Universal Receiver Tester
RF Signal Record and Playback System
The Universal Receiver Tester (URT) RF Signal Record & Playback System is a state-of-the-art system that can capture live RF signals and playback with impairments. The most compact system on the market today, it is optimized for in-vehicle recording of radio, video and navigation signals for RF receiver validation and testing.

Designed to reduce and complement the traditional field testing required to validate RF receivers, the Averna URT RF Record and Playback system captures live RF signals along with their impairments, without any de-modulation or alterations, and plays them back when desired. This new RF signal record and playback technique is a versatile solution to analyze the limits of RF receiver performance, while reducing the need for expensive drive tests by making those tests repeatable at any time in a laboratory environment.
Time spent on drive tests is significantly reduced, taking only as long as needed to record all the required RF signals and impairments at the various desired locations and paths. With the readily available recorded RF signals as references, greater emphasis on in-lab analysis is possible, allowing manufacturers to benefit from accurate, reliable, and repeatable performance testing, while reducing both testing costs and time.
Core features:
- Captures RF signals for all common broadcast standards such as analog and digital radio and video, as well as navigation
- User-friendly system can be used by engineers and technicians alike
- Records up to 20 MHz of RF bandwidth to cover more signals and impairments
- Dynamic range of 80 dB to capture interference signals and weak signals in the presence of larger ones
- Noise floor as low as -172 dBm/Hz for maximum signal retention, to best represent real-life conditions
- Multiple channels to record from multiple, tightly synchronized antennas
- Adjustable gain up to 46 dB of range for varying power application
- Matlab interface available to both RF Recorder and RF Player
