Averna supports IEEE-1394 on the following state-of-the-art hardware products, for the embedded market.

IEEE-1394 OHCI Boards

Designed with industrial-grade embedded systems in mind, Averna's IEEE-1394 a&b OHCI interface boards enable high-speed, real-time communication between hosts, at transmission rates of either 400 or 800 Mbps. The boards are fully OHCI-compliant, making it unnecessary to purchase additional software drivers for Windows and Linux.

Averna's IEEE-1394 a&b OHCI boards are equipped with auto-resetting fuses on external cable power, galvanic isolation up to 200 V, and automatic power distribution on the cable (up to 40 V/1.5 amps, depending on the adapter).

IEEE-1394a/b Multi-Hub Interface

Averna's Multi-Hub IEEE-1394 a&b Interface connects diverse media types such as GOF, 1394a, and 1394b in a single bus, delivering uncompromised connectivity for integrated technologies. The Multi-Hub Interface is composed of six independent 1394 hubs for a total of twenty-four (24) 1394a ports, two (2) 1394b optical ports, and four (4) 1394b copper ports, making it possible to operate a variety of digital consumer and industrial devices.

IEEE-1394a/b VME Bridge

Averna's IEEE-1394 VME Bridge adapter enables high-speed connectivity for hybrid systems. It contains a large amount of user-resident memory (FLASH and SDRAM) and can be easily configured via an RS-232 port and an IEEE-1394 serial bus. The VME Bridge is galvanically isolated, eliminating electrical interference to protect the high rate of data transfer.

IEEE-1394a/b Multi-Node VME Boards

With its distributed processing and FPGA-assisted transport mechanism, Averna's IEEE-1394 a/b Multi-Node VME board provides high throughput and time-deterministic 1394 communication.

It is equipped with 2, 4, or 6 independent 1394 nodes (total of up to 18 ports), each driven by an independent, user-defined control script. The scripting facility permits individual behavior from each node to satisfy the specific requirements of a broad range of applications.

IEEE-1394b FPGA Link Layer Core

Averna's IEEE-1394b FPGA Link Layer Core is a highly scalable core module developed for engineers working with multimedia-equipped embedded systems. It provides transmission speeds of up to 800 Mbps, which is the maximum throughput currently available through the 1394b standard.

The reprogrammable FPGA aspect means that dedicated processing tasks can be run in parallel and design can be integrated on the same chip for faster simulation times and lower production costs. Averna's FPGA Link Layer Core provides hardware-timed speed and reliability for bandwidth-hungry applications.

IEEE-1394 Standalone Microcontroller Module

Averna's 1394 Standalone Microcontroller Module can be used as a complete hardware/software solution that is integrated with a client's application as a daughter board (piggy-back). A two-connector set used by Averna provides the interface between the 1394 Standalone Microcontroller Module and the client's application.With this board, integrators do not need to write any specific drivers or software. A FireWire-equipped host computer can control the unit remotely.

Averna's 1394 Standalone Microcontroller Module can also be used as an embedded solution. Integrators can port their value-added code onto the Averna module in order to create their own customized solution.
